Disused land transformed into vibrant community space!
The Golden Flatts Community Woodland and Green Infrastructure (GI) project, will transform over 20 hectares of disused local authority owned, but undevelopable space into a vibrant Community woodland. This project will transform the lives of those living in the area by creating high quality accessible Green Infrastructure on the doorstep. The Groundwork Green Infrastructure team were instrumental in the facilitation of this project working with partners such as Hartlepool Borough Council, Natural England and the Forestry Commission.
Location: Ashington The Ashington Community Woodland project aims to enable the community of south east Northumberland to explore and enjoy the woodland through the provision of a diverse range of activities and learning opportunities.
Location: Tyne & Wear and Tees Valley Green Exercise North East (GENE) is a 27 month project that provides outdoor activities for disadvantaged communities, with officers using consultations to deliver sessions and develop programmes that are tailored to participants' needs.
Location: Hartlepool The Headland NAP Resident’s Forum approached Groundwork North East (formally East Durham) to develop an environmental project for the two walled areas at the top of Thorpe Street, Hartlepool. The aspiration was to create an attractive, useful public space, in contrast to the bland area which severed no purpose to the community.
