Gravestone detectives is a heritage project connecting schools with important local heritage sites. Working alongside eight primary and secondary schools in Seaham, the project researches the history of people buried in the churchyard of St Marys of the Virgin Church, Seaham one of the twenty oldest Saxon churches in England. The project will culminate in repair work, restoring the gravestones and installing two interpretive panels informed by the children’s work.
