Gentoo and Groundwork North East launch new community facility for apartment tenants of Hendon
Working together, Groundwork North East and Gentoo are delivering a new project at the community garden facility at located at Hedworth Court.
The project aims to provide an urban green space for residents to come together, get some fresh air and exercise, socialise and learn about growing their own produce for a healthier diet.
The project is funded by Gentoo and Marks & Spencer and will see Groundwork staff working with local people to design the space and support Gentoo tenants as well as children and parents from the local school to grow, harvest and cook with their own fruit and veg.
Claire Hutchinson from Groundwork said, "the launch day was a great way to tell people what we are doing here and to get ideas about how people want to use the space. We will be attending residents meetings to talk to people about the scheme and to publicise the sessions we will be delivering at the site in the spring."
