Old and new communities of Southwick come together at St Andrews Church
Staff from Groundwork North East are working alongside St Andrews Church and long term volunteer Frank Martin to establish a group of volunteers from old and new Southwick to run the community garden project the church is developing.
The gardening group is being supported by Groundwork's PCT funded Green Activity Programme with supported sessions being delivered to help local people try their hand at gardening and growing their own food and improving their health and wellbeing by spending an increased amount of time in a green space.
As well as the gardening group that takes place on Wednesday mornings 10-12 noon a variety of other activities are provided for the local community including a junior youth group on Tuesdays 6-7pm, karate on a Wednesday 6-8pm, Thursday toddler group 10-12 noon and the boys brigade ion a Friday 6-9pm. The church also hosts a monthly tea dance and is available for hire for functions.
For more information or if you are interested in participating in the gardening group please contact Colin Farr (0779 614 8647)
